Why can’t people like Madonna, Anderson Cooper, and Ellen DeGeneres just leave the Scouts alone! The Boy Scouts as we know it started in 1910 and since then over 100 million Americans have been part of scouting, currently there are 2.7 million scouts and about 1 million adult leaders! (Wikipedia) According to Scout policy "Boy Scouts of America believes that homosexual conduct is inconsistent with the obligations in the Scout Oath and Scout Law ……!). In 2000, the Supreme Court ruled in Boy Scouts of America v. Dale that Boy Scouts, and all private organizations, have the constitutionally protected right under the First Amendment of freedom of association to set membership standards. Hey, I have an idea that Madonna, Cooper and DeGeneres start a scout program for gays!? And certainly you would welcome heterosexuals with open arms!
